Featuring footage from four continents and interviews with prominent industry figures, the film examines the real-world impact of BTC. It’s already won multiple awards, but the creators of Unbanked want to go even further.

Over the past few years, Bitcoin has been home to many documentaries, ranging from high-profile crimes to the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto and more. One more will join its ranks in the coming weeks, as Unbanked premieres on Apple TV, Amazon Prime, and Google TV this Halloween.
Unbanked was released on the anniversary of the publication of Bitcoin’s original white paper, and the documentary covers the impact of the first crypto asset. While previous films have chronicled the origin story of BTC, Unbanked takes a different approach.

Unbanked has been up for multiple awards and has already won Best Documentary at the Manhattan Film Festival and the Spotlight Award at the Harlem International Film Festival. The team is also planning an Oscar campaign, which is a very ambitious undertaking.
Still, thanks to political breakthroughs and TradFi investments, cryptocurrencies have recently begun to gain mainstream acceptance. Technically speaking, now might be the perfect time for a Bitcoin documentary to aspire to such true cultural honors.
Either way, Unbanked could be a seminal moment for the industry. The latest major Bitcoin documentary sparked meaningful real-world conversation, but this one could be even bigger. But for now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
