Information is spreading online that Jeffy Yu, co-founder of AI agent MemeCoin Project Zerebro, passed away after a live-streamed suicide on May 4th.
Cryptoslate was unable to confirm whether the report was accurate or part of the new AI Memecoin’s dark, elaborate marketing campaign.
The event was initially confirmed by an obituary published on Legacy.com, but the page has been deleted.
At the time of reporting, no official statements have been issued by his family or project team, and the circumstances surrounding his death remain partially unexamined.

Yu, who is said to have passed away at the age of 22, became a prominent computer science genius when he joined Stanford University at the age of 15 after co-hosting Zerebro in late 2023.
The project quickly gained traction in the crypto industry, mixing AI agent infrastructure with the MemeCoin trend. At its peak, Zerebro reached a market capitalization of $800 million and was placed alongside other AI-themed tokens as part of a broader speculative trend.
Despite a temporary revival of value earlier this year, Zerebro was beginning to lose momentum amid a wider decline in the AI ​​token narrative. However, Yu remained open, unveiling new features, giving user votes and advocating a more structured information flow in AI-driven content creation.
On the day of the incident, Yu used Pump.fun’s live streaming platform. This has recently recovered after previous controversy. Viewers reported seeing a gentle sequence in which the sounds of gunshots peaked. After that, the screen went dark.
Blockchain data showed subsequent activities from the wallet associated with Yu, leading some community members to speculate that the live stream may have been staged or that some of the performances may have been performed.
When Yu’s obituary was published on Legacy.com, a confirmation of death came in and appeared to have identified him as a technician and builder. However, the obituary has since been conducted offline, reinforcing questions about the finality and nature of the event.
