Today, Spark announced a new integration with Satoshi’s Wallet, one of the largest Bitcoin Lightning Network (LN) wallets, in beta, to provide users with a “truly independent lightning experience.” According to a press release sent to Bitcoin Magazine, in beta.
“From the start, Spark felt like a lacking piece,” Satoshi’s wallet said. “It gave us a foundation for a serious exploration of what’s independent. It abstracts the complexities of independence so that we can focus on the user experience.”
By becoming independent, this gives customers complete control over Bitcoin. In November 2024, Satoshi’s wallets removed the app from US Apple and Google App stores for unclear reasons, as the disadvantageous regulatory environment of the time cracked down on lightning wallets. But now that the regulatory landscape has changed in the US, Sato’s wallet said the integration will re-enter the US market and unleash its ability to serve.
Satoshi’s wallets also face limitations when developing independent lightning wallets, such as liquidity requirements, node complexity, and channel management costs, making it difficult to build truly independent LN wallets, but Spark now offers a solution.
“We specifically built Spark to solve this exact problem,” the company said. “Spark abstracts all the complexity of the wallet you are trying to implement lightning. You don’t have to spin up channels, worry about routing, increase liquidity, or consider managing nodes. Creating a lightning wallet in Spark requires just six lines of code.”
Spark says it will continue to build new features as its products evolve, and anyone interested in participating in the beta can leave a comment on X-Post requesting participation.
On May 22, Breez and Spark partnered to launch a new implementation of the Breez SDK, built on Spark’s Bitcoin-Native Layer 2 infrastructure. The SDK supports LNURL, Lightning addresses, real-time mobile notifications and includes bindings for all major programming languages and frameworks. The collaboration provided tools for developers to add Bitcoin payment capabilities to apps used for monetisation social apps, cross-border transfers, and in-game currency.
A day ago, Spark partnered with Magic Eden to improve Bitcoin trading by addressing issues such as slow transactions, high rates and poor user experience. The integration introduced a native settlement system aimed at making transactions faster and more cost-effective without using bridges or synthetic assets.
