Privacy-first Bitcoin wallet for everyone, now available globally on iOS

Bull Bitcoin, the international privacy-focused Bitcoin exchange, has announced the global release of BULL Wallet on iOS. This mobile app is designed for both beginners and hardcore cypherpunk Bitcoin OGs. BULL Wallet is currently available on iOS and Android and is optimized for “superlative privacy, security, and ease of use for everyday Bitcoin transactions and secure long-term cold storage,” according to a press release shared with Bitcoin Magazine.

“BULL Wallet is my passion project and a gift to the Bitcoin network. It is dedicated to Bitcoin, completely open source, and built to prioritize privacy, security, and simplicity,” Pouliot said of the completely open source and ad-free wallet.

The BULL Bitcoin wallet is fully featured, offering a wide range of functionality starting from basic sending, receiving, and accounting, all the way to hardware wallet support with COLDCARD integration. This is generally considered to be the most paranoid and advanced hardware wallet. In between, the wallet makes a series of unique design choices that optimize Bitcoin privacy while avoiding the high complexity found in other popular Bitcoin mobile wallets today.

Of course, true to the company’s branding, the wallet is Bitcoin only, but it supports crypto leaders on both the Lightning and Liquid networks, giving users great options when it comes to both privacy, long-term storage, and transaction speed. This wallet also has an integrated swap exchange using a powerful technology called atomic swaps, which allows users to move from one layer of Bitcoin to another without having to deposit their funds with an exchange during the transition, unlike regular centralized exchanges or common swaps or “instant exchanges”.

The BULL wallet also features deep integration with the BULL Bitcoin exchange. This is an important feature for the long-term sustainability of mobile wallets. Mobile wallets otherwise tend to struggle to find a business model and survive. Exchange interaction is opt-in and can be ignored completely, but depending on your jurisdiction, turning it on will unlock additional features such as fiat bill payments, quick purchases, and selling Bitcoin.

One of the most attractive features that the BULL wallet offers is its seamless integration with the privacy protocol Payjoin. Unlike typical coin mixers, it doesn’t take a long time and doesn’t require a third party to help with the adjustment. Instead, if both the sender and receiver support the protocol, a payjoin transaction occurs, making it difficult for data analytics companies to understand who paid whom and how much. Payjoin transactions look like regular transactions, but they simply organize the flow of funds in a private way, which measurably increases user privacy. This is also generally a plus in terms of Bitcoin’s censorship resistance.
