According to a press release sent to Bitcoin Magazine, Sorted Wallet announced today that it is targeting a user base of over 1 billion, enabling Bitcoin payments on its feature phones and simple Android devices.
“Sorted wallets are on a mission to bring Bitcoin to billions of people who use mobile phones and simple Android devices, especially those using mobile phones and simple Android devices,” the press release said.
This integration allows Surted to provide non-radical lightning payments without users running nodes or relying on third-party custodians. The BREEZ SDK is designed to operate with low calculation and storage requirements. The user retains control of the private key, and the SDK supports both Bitcoin and USDT.
“Lightning changed the economy of Bitcoin and added new uses, but running client nodes locally was still too tough on many feature phones,” the press release said. “The Sorted team looked into building a custody Bitcoin app, but they realized it would introduce new, mostly regulatory obstacles. Plus, it doesn’t empower people by getting money.”
After a conversation with the Kaios development team, Sorted began exploring a simple device solution. After evaluating several options, including management models and third-party liquidity providers, the team chose Breez for low resource requirements and self-supporting design.
“The sorted increase the amount of people who have access to Bitcoin, but Bitcoin expands the range of ways in which value can be exchanged and what money can do,” the press release said. “Money can move freely without borders, delays or third parties, making it possible for a whole new use case.”
The integration also allows you to build new features, such as merchant apps and WhatsApp-based money transfer tools. The goal is to support retail payments and cross-border transfers on devices already widely used in underserved markets.
“That wise decision has also helped me organize other safe votes of confidence, as Tether’s recent investments have been boosted,” the press release said. “As a result, anyone who has access to a bank and is bound to the border can now use Bitcoin to move where they need it and how they want to use their devices in their pockets.”
Sorting posted on X, “We believe that access should not be dependent on your device. That’s why the Breez SDK is unlocking feature phones from around the world and lightweight Android Lightning-Fast Bitcoin Payments.
